For employers
Join our transformative Carers Champion program.
Working carers are often ‘hidden’, or under the radar of the organisation that employs them.
But if those working carers don’t get support, the cost to the employer can be considerable, from recruitment of new talent to employees often reducing their hours or even leaving if they can’t balance caring with work.
So there is a sound business case for ensuring that carers are receiving the support to which they are entitled through the recruitment and retention cycle.

What do we mean by the term carer?
A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, frailty, a mental health condition or an addiction cannot cope without their support. This is not limited to practical support and includes emotional support.
How can I support a
carer in the workplace?
An employer that has demonstrable, clear carer policies and has facilitated the creation of a carer network among staff with named contacts to approach for support is much more likely to receive applications from people with carer responsibilities.

Make a referral
With the carer’s consent, it’s straightforward to make a referral to the Carers Centre, opening up a wealth of dedicated support and advice.
Just so you know, the carer doesn’t have to have a professional’s referral to get in touch with The Carers Centre. If they prefer, they can refer themselves to us.
