Carers in Conversation
Advocate for and support those who provide care.
You’ll be redirected to the Carers Hub website
Our series ‘Carers in Conversation’ features real carers talking about their experiences.Â
If you’d like to share you story, please send your submission to events@thecarerscentre.org
There’s no right or wrong way to respond and you can write as much or as little as you’d like. Below are some
prompts you may wish to use, but you don’t need to answer all (or any) of them if you’d prefer to write in your
own way. Please only share what feels comfortable for you.
With your permission, we may share stories (or short extracts) to help others better understand unpaid caring –
for example on our website, in promotional resources, or as part of the Carer Awareness Training we deliver to
professionals. We can of course change the names included if you would like us to do so.
Some prompts to get you started
About you and your caring role
Tell us a little about you and your caring role (e.g. who you care for and what caring
looks like in your daily life.)
What have you found challenging about being an unpaid carer?
What helps you to keep going on difficult days? This might be people, routines,
moments, or personal strengths.
Your experience with The Carers Centre
What made you decide to get involved with The Carers Centre?
What support or activities have made a difference to you as a carer?
If you were describing The Carers Centre to another carer, what would you say?
Carer friendly communities
What would you like others – such as professionals or the wider community – to
understand about life as an unpaid carer?
What has helped you feel supported or included in your community?
What would help make your community more ‘carer friendly’?
Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us.

Make a referral
With the carer’s consent, it’s straightforward to make a referral to the Carers Centre, opening up a wealth of dedicated support and advice.
Just so you know, the carer doesn’t have to have a professional’s referral to get in touch with The Carers Centre. If they prefer, they can refer themselves to us.
